Call Tami and Mark Bjorkman two-time winners. The last two homes they have lived in have been Karsten-built homes, (technically the first one was a Golden West, but it was constructed in the Karsten quality tradition).

In fact, for the last 17+ years, they have lived in a Karsten-built home. And the Snohomish, WA couple bought both from Vic Cox Home Center in Arlington, WA.

They originally purchased the Golden West in 1990 when the company was still independently owned by the Karsten family. The Karsten eventually sold Golden West, then later founded Karsten Homes. Both Karsten and Golden West are now divisions of Clayton Homes’ CMH Manufacturing, Inc.

“The home was a gem,” said Tami. “We never had a problem in the world with it until that 2006 winter storm.”

That was a fierce storm with near hurricane winds that destroyed homes and property throughout northwest Washington. A large tree fell on the Bjorkman’s house. Suddenly they were homeless.

“We were determined to make our next home a site-built house,” admitted Tami. “But then we toured the Karsten KE-12 model at the Vic Cox Home Center, and we fell in love.”

The Bjorkman KE-12 is a triple with a tag, more than 3,000 square feet and now situated on a lovely acre in the Echo Lake area. “We did ourselves proud with this home,” smiled Tami. It includes log siding, fireplace with bookshelves on either side in the living room and another fireplace in the master suite, plus upgrades galore, including upgraded kitchen appliances and a lot more.

“We just love it,” reveals Tami, but they love the folks at Vic Cox even more. “Ron (Hall) our salesperson, Annie (Townsend), the service coordinator, and Heather (Grasseth), the general manager, were just fabulous to us in every way. No matter what issues came up, they were there, assisting us, answering all our questions, and helping us expedite the process.

“When the home was delivered, Heather stood there in the rain until the home was in place. She truly stood behind her home and was there every step of the way.”
